چکیده :
Abstract: Objective: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common liver problem associated with increased oxidative stress and decreased antioxidant enzyme activity. Probiotics can serve as dietary supplements to improve liver health. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the probiotic Lactobacillus casei on the levels of antioxidant enzymes in the liver tissue of Wistar male rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Methods: In this research, Wistar male rats were divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental group received the probiotic Lactobacillus casei for 4 weeks. After the treatment period, liver tissue was collected, and the levels of antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) were measured. Results: The results showed that the consumption of Lactobacillus casei probiotic significantly increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes in the liver tissue of Wistar male rats. Conclusion: Lactobacillus casei probiotic may serve as a complementary treatment to improve antioxidant enzyme levels and reduce oxidative stress in rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
