چکیده :
Background and Aim: Childhood obesity and digestive diseases are among the most common health issues affecting children, which can lead to long-term physical, psychological, and social consequences. Effective communication of health-related messages to parents, teachers, and children themselves is one of the key strategies for the prevention and management of these diseases. In this context, language, as the primary tool for communication and learning, plays a central role in understanding, accepting, and implementing health recommendations. Methods: This study was conducted as a narrative review. Scientific articles published between 2018 and 2024 were retrieved from databases including Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus. Keywords such as "health literacy", "language and health communication", "childhood obesity", "digestive diseases" and "health education materials" were searched. After reviewing titles and abstracts, 15 selected articles were analyzed based on their topical relevance, novelty, and content quality. Results: The results of this review revealed that many health-related messages were not understandable for the target audience due to the use of complex vocabulary, unclear structures, and poor translations. In contrast, the use of simple, clear, and concise language, short sentences, and content tailored to the health literacy level of the audience had a positive impact on learning and behavioral change regarding health practices in children and families. Conclusion: Language, as a tool for conveying meaningful health messages, must be designed with care, simplicity, and in alignment with the linguistic and cultural needs of the audience. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of collaboration between linguists, child psychologists, health experts, and health educators in producing effective, inclusive, and culturally appropriate messages for vulnerable groups, especially children, in order to significantly improve the quality of health education.
