چکیده :
Background and Aim: The prevalence of obesity and overweight in children is increasing. Sleep disorders are one of the problems of overweight and obese children. Regular physical activity can effectively improve sleep quality. Still, we did not find a comprehensive review in this regard, so this systematic review aimed to investigate the effect of exercise on sleep disorders in obese and overweight children. Methods: In this systematic review, the keywords related to 'exercise', 'sleep', 'children', 'obese', and 'overweight' were searched in international and national databases Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Irandoc, SID, Magiran and Google_Scholar search engines. The primary search yielded 25 studies. Inclusion criteria were publication in Persian/English. Grey literature came out. The time limit was not applied. After eliminating duplicates and critiquing with relevant tools, six studies were analyzed. Ethical considerations were observed and the abstract was reported according to PRISMA. Results: Studies have shown that regular exercise has positive effects on improving sleep quality. Implementing an exercise program that included aerobic and resistance training for 20 weeks reduced the number of times you wake up during a night's sleep and thus improved sleep quality, but did not affect sleep apnea in obese and overweight children. Doing high-intensity aerobic exercise for 40 minutes a day over 10-15 weeks improved snoring puffiness and sleep apnea in obese children. Also, the use of a physical-activity mobile application reduced the amount of fat mass and improved the quality of sleep, but did not cause a significant change in BMI and body fat percentage (p>0.05). Conclusion: It seems that regular exercise can improve sleep disorders in obese and overweight children. It is suggested that future studies compare the effects of different exercises such as team sports and dance on the quality of sleep in these children.
