چکیده :
Abstract Background and Aim: Obesity has become a global public health challenge, with rising prevalence among adults and children. Community- and school-based interventions are critical for promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing obesity. This review aims to explore effective strategies for obesity prevention at these levels, focusing on education, environmental modifications, and policy interventions. Methods: A narrative review was conducted, synthesizing evidence from recent studies, guidelines, and public health reports. Key strategies were categorized into community-wide approaches (e.g., public awareness campaigns, urban planning, taxation policies) and school-based interventions (e.g., nutrition programs, physical activity promotion, parental engagement). Results: Effective community strategies include: • Public education campaigns on nutrition and exercise. • Development of accessible recreational spaces. • Fiscal policies (e.g., sugar taxes) to reduce unhealthy food consumption. School-based interventions show success through: • Healthy cafeteria meals and restricted junk food sales. • Mandatory physical education and active recess policies. • Parent-teacher collaborations on health education. Multi-component programs combining education, environmental changes, and policy measures yield the best outcomes. Conclusion: Obesity prevention requires integrated efforts across communities and schools. Policymakers, educators, and health professionals must collaborate to implement sustainable interventions that encourage healthy eating and active living from an early age. Keywords: Obesity prevention, Community health, School interventions, Public health policy, Physical activity, Nutrition education.
