چکیده :
Abstract Background and Aim: Pediatric obesity is a global health challenge associated with long-term metabolic and cardiovascular risks. Interventions to prevent pediatric obesity can help to establish healthy habits to improve current and future health. In the present review we aimed to identify the most effective intervention strategies tailored to different developmental stages, focusing on nutritional interventions on obesity prevention, examining anthropometric indices, prevalence rates, and cost-effectiveness. Methods: A systematic search through PubMed, Google scholar and Scopus databases was accomplished. Relevant studies were assessed, and after considering the aims of the study, 10 studies were thoroughly reviewed. Keyword included: children, obesity, nutritional intervention, pediatric. Results: This comprehensive review evaluated nutrition interventions for pediatric obesity prevention. The findings highlight distinct patterns of effectiveness based on setting and age group. For children 0-5 years, interventions involving parents and caregivers in home or healthcare settings showed promising results in promoting healthy growth patterns. School-based programs emerged as particularly impactful for children aged 6-12 years, especially when combining nutrition education with environmental changes to food availability. Community-wide initiatives demonstrated effectiveness across multiple age groups while also proving economically viable. Adolescent-focused interventions showed limited evidence of effectiveness, indicating a need for more tailored approaches. Food assistance programs revealed mixed outcomes, with some demonstrating positive effects on weight-related measures while others showed no significant impact. Multi-component interventions that addressed both individual behaviors and environmental factors consistently outperformed single-focus programs. These findings underscore the importance of developmentally appropriate, setting-specific strategies in pediatric obesity prevention efforts. Conclusion: Pediatric obesity prevention requires age- and setting-specific strategies. Schools are pivotal for 6–12-year-olds, while younger children benefit from home and community interventions. Further research is needed to address gaps in adolescent interventions and strengthen evidence quality. Policymakers and practitioners should prioritize tailored, multi-component programs to mitigate obesity risks effectively.
