Terminological Analysis of Search Content Related to Colorectal, Ovarian, Breast, Uterine, and Skin Cancers Using Google Trends in Iran and Turkey Yousef Mohammadpour1, Shahram Ebrahimi2*, Tohid Rezaei3, Ghazal Akhavan Masoumi2, Fatemeh Soltani2, Raouf Milan2, Davoud Sadaghiani2 Affiliation: 1 Patient Safety Research Center, Clinical Research Institute, Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Urmia, Iran 2 Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Urmia, Iran 3 Department of Anatomical Sciences, School of Medicine, Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Urmia, Iran *Corresponding Author Email: ebshahram@gmail.com Background and Aim: Internet users often rely continuously on search engines and thematic directories as tools for seeking and accessing information. Nowadays, search engines provide various services offering statistical data about usage rates, behavior analysis, and user preferences. These statistics not only significantly assist website managers in optimizing user searches (SEO), but also reveal the gap between specialized users (subject experts) and general users in terms of perspective and approach toward specific topics. Methods: This study employed a scientometric approach based on content analysis to examine search behaviors related to the most commonly reported cancers among women in the fields of colorectal, ovarian, breast, uterine, and skin cancer on the Google search engine in Iran and Turkey over the past one year and five years. The primary research tool used in this study was the **Google Trends** service, which provides comprehensive statistics regarding user search activities based on keywords, segmented by country and region. Results: The results indicated that, over the past 12 and 60 months, the most frequently searched cancer topics by Iranian users were, in order: uterine, skin, breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers. In Turkey, the top searches were meme kanseri (breast cancer), rahim kanseri (uterine cancer), Kolon kanseri (colorectal cancer), cilt kanseri (skin cancer), and Yumurtalık kanseri (ovarian cancer), respectively. There was little overlap between the search trends of the past one and five years. Nevertheless, user interest over the specified time period showed consistent patterns in both Iran and Turkey. Among Iranian users, uterine cancer generated the most concern, while colorectal cancer was the least concerning. Conversely, Turkish users expressed the most concern about breast cancer and the least about ovarian cancer. The study also found a significant difference in the number and volume of searches for each of the five cancers. Notably, users frequently included the term “symptoms” in their searches, indicating both concern about and curiosity regarding the manifestation of these diseases. Keywords: Uterine cancer, Skin cancer, Breast cancer, Ovarian cancer, Colorectal cancer
